Lactation Services
We know how important the first days after birth are, and our first priority is to help you breastfeed comfortably and for you to be confident that your baby is feeding well. Our nursing staff and lactation consultants provide bedside and outpatient help with breastfeeding and individualized teaching seven days a week. All breastfeeding mothers are strongly encouraged to schedule an outpatient Lactation Consultant appointment to receive support after discharge from the hospital and before your newborn’s first primary care visit.
During that appointment, your baby’s weight will be checked, breastfeeding will be observed, and the Lactation Consultant will assist with any feeding difficulties that you may have. You can also call after you and your baby go home for breastfeeding help and follow-up by telephone.

Covenant also hosts a weekly breastfeeding support group, which meets each Monday from 6:30 to 7:30 pm at Covenant Andersen in the Wellness Room, at 1020 Almira Street, Saginaw. Please see Covenant HealthCare's calendar for more information.
