Regional Neonatal Intensive Care Unit
For 40 years, families have relied on Covenant HealthCare to provide the highest level of newborn care in the region. Because when it comes to your baby, we promise to deliver extraordinary care. That’s why you can trust in the region’s only Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Covenant HealthCare. Our 55 bed Regional Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (RNICU) is newly renovated to provide a comfortable and healing environment for newborns and their families.
The RNICU is equipped with the most advanced technology to care for our tiniest patients. Board-certified neonatologists and neonatal nurse practitioners provide 24-hour, in-house coverage. Nurses, respiratory therapists and an excellent support team of occupational and physical therapists, radiologists, dietitians, lactation consultants, social workers, case workers and pastoral care are all vital members of the RNICU team.
It is not always possible to predict which baby will need the services of an RNICU. High-risk obstetric cases are referred to Covenant Birth Center so their babies will have advanced care available from their first breath.
Whenever a baby is born in a community hospital in our region, Covenant stands ready with a highly trained transport team to go to the aid of that baby if needed. The team brings the baby to our RNICU by ambulance or by Lifenet helicopter service.
