Celebrating 10 Years of Excellence in Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement (TAVR)
Saginaw, MI – September 30, 2024 Covenant HealthCare proudly commemorates the 10-year anniversary of the first transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) at the Structural Heart Center at Covenant HealthCare—the first procedure of its kind in the Great Lakes Bay Region.
TAVR is a minimally invasive treatment option for patients with narrowing of the aortic valve. There are times when TAVR is the only option available for patients not suitable for open heart surgery. Compared to open heart surgery, multiple studies have shown TAVR is as effective, with similar risk, but a much shorter hospital stay and a quicker return to normal lifestyle and function.
Highlights of the 10-Year TAVR Program
Pioneering Innovation: Covenant HealthCare was the first in the region to adopt the TAVR procedure, showcasing its commitment to leading-edge, advanced cardiology procedures and medical advancements.
Expert Care Team: A multidisciplinary team of cardiologists, surgeons, advanced care providers, and specialized staff has ensured optimal outcomes for patients with complex cardiovascular conditions.
Community Impact: Over the past decade, TAVR has significantly improved the lives of patients who otherwise faced limited options for aortic valve replacement.
