Thoracic Surgery
Thoracic surgery is a surgical procedure performed inside the chest wall. If you have a condition involving the lungs, diaphragm or esophagus, you might be a candidate for da Vinci®.
Traditional “open” surgery to reach the chest cavity means a long incision through the chest wall. In some cases, the surgeon must cut open the breastbone at the front of the ribcage. At Covenant HealthCare, surgeons use the most advanced technology available – da Vinci® surgical robotics – to enter the chest with just a few tiny incisions between the ribs, avoiding a large incision and the possibility of having the ribs spread. A small camera and precise surgical instruments are inserted through the small incisions in the chest, giving the surgical team enhanced vision, precision, dexterity and control never before possible.
da Vinci® enables Covenant HealthCare to perform thoracic surgeries such as:
- Bleb Stapling
- Lobectomies
- Lung biopsies
- Wedge resections
