Extraordinary Spiritual Support

In times of illness, trauma and loss, many individuals require more than physical care to cope and heal. Covenant HealthCare chaplains are available 24 hours a day to provide emotional and spiritual support to patients, families and hospital staff. Our chaplains support and foster healing and wholeness with people of all faiths, as well as those who do not belong to one.

Covenant is the only hospital in the area that offers in-house 24/7 spiritual support. Our chaplains are here to support you and your family with the following services:

• Assistance in identifying and communicating basic spiritual, emotional, and human needs,
• Conflict resolution,
• Crisis intervention,
• Grief/loss care and support,
• Help with ethical/moral decisions and dilemmas,
• Referral to resources in the hospital and community,
• Reading of holy texts, prayer, sacraments, blessings and baptism, memorial services, etc.

Clinical Pastoral Education Program

Covenant also supports education in the faith community and is proud to offer the only Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) Program accredited by the Association of Clinical Pastoral Care (ACPE) in the Great Lakes Bay Region.

CPE is a program of professional education for ministry, designed for clergy, seminary/theological students, prospective chaplains, and committed lay people to develop their competence and effectiveness in providing pastoral/spiritual care. It also renders an opportunity to clarify and enhance one’s personal pastoral identity.

CPE residents and interns at Covenant serve as chaplains and learn from ministry experiences in a wide variety of clinical areas and engage in direct spiritual care with patients, families, loved ones and staff.

We welcome pastors, priests, rabbis, imams, military chaplains, and qualified lay persons to apply for the CPE residency. Here, you can make an impact by providing a sanctuary of healing for individuals in need.
